This Connecticut kitchen was remodeled by a house flipper before the clients moved in. They appreciated the white cabinets and the marble countertops, but they thought the space was too white overall and they really didn’t love the builder-grade matte white subway tile. We updated the backsplash tile in 3 ways to address their concerns: 1, we chose a light gray, the tone of which matches the veining in the marble; 2, we went for a glossy finish, to help reflect light in the room and be a more dramatic difference from the original tile; and to further heighten that difference, we chose a tile with a handmade look, with surface undulations and uneven edges. You can see the before photos here!
