When I sat down to interview the then-5-year-old inhabitant of this room, she told me in no uncertain terms that she wanted pink, black, and red. She also loved unicorns, pandas, and rainbows. The biggest challenge in this room was a huge projection- the top 4’ and ceiling of a closet on the floor below- taking up precious space and in a way that was mostly unusable. Instead of fighting it, I embraced this and had a custom bed and bookcases built into and on top of the projection. It looks amazing and freed up the rest of the room for a desk and reading nook. Pink silk-look wallpaper sets the tone, while black & white, red, panda, and rainbow accents can be easily changed when she does!
